If anyone doesn’t know, I am obsessed with this song. The original by Van She is probably one my favorite songs, ever. It’s just a perfect song. Van She re-recorded the song for the debut album “V” which dropped earlier this year, but the original version is supremely better, but probably because it’s what I’m used to. There has been some notable remixes of the song by Cut Copy and Alan Braxe & Fred Falke, but this new Lifelike rework is freaking good. I saw earlier this summer on his Myspace he was working on a remix for the Aussie group and I could not wait. The track debuted on his myspace this week. Watch for it on a re-issue of the track on Modular soon.

“Walking on a Dream”

This is some good pop music, here. I hadn’t heard of Empire of the Sun until this morning when I was finishing up my English paper, ie. scanning music blogs. From what I’ve learned so far, they’re from Australia (again) and are a duo formed by Luke Steele of The Sleepy Jackson and Nick Littlemore of Pnau. The video above is for their first single “Walking on a Dream”. Their debut album dropped October 8 in Australia.

The single is a steady pop groove, impossible not to tap your foot to. Coolest part of the track being the vocals. Check it out below along with two remixes.

If you’re a regular reader, obviously you know that I keep pushing Tame Impala. They’re this new psychedelic act out of Australia, best buds with Modular, and are touring with the likes of MGMT and such in the land down under. They released “Skeleton Tiger” a couple weeks back as a free download on their official site, but you can now go there and grab the other 4 tracks to complete the EP for $3.99 (AUD).

Quoted from their email: “Our EP consists of a selection of 5 songs out of about 25 home recorded songs we have. A couple were recorded as long ago as 2005; others were still being written when the EP was supposed to be getting mastered (oh yeah sorry about that Modular…). x Kevin, Dom & Jay ”

Signed, recorded and poised to overtake Australia, Tame Imala is offering their first EP for pre-order on the band’s new official website. You can download the single ‘Skeleton Tiger’ for free at the site if you give some info for a mailing.The EP will contain some home recordings, which is an awesome specialty of these guys from Perth. Anything they record sounds instantly classic. Especially for the noise their going for: psychedelic garage rock (o-yeah). The trio knows how to structure a song and make their guitars sound just like it’s 1967. The group is touring with MGMT across Australia this December.

Australia’s psychedelic revolution is underway. In Perth, three guys have come together to form what music needs, rock ‘n roll. Tame Impala’s mission is to play in large, grassy areas and record music in their homes for you to download. Their myspace caption reads, “music to download on sunny days.” Remember Me is just that. Go to their SITE right now and download this song. You. Will. Not. Regret. It. This song has been my favorite morning music for the past couple weeks. I need to send credit over to Ian LeSueur for sending this song my way. See what Mad Decent had to say. Ian is headed to Melbourne this fall to become famous. The group is signed to Australian’s Modular records. Founded by Steve Pavlovic, the label has grown quickly since 2004’s release of the Avalanche’s and Cut Copy’s debut albums. MODULAR RECORDS

The Australian music scene is maxxed out with electronica. With Cut Copy’s sophomore release imminent, Midnight Juggernauts planning their debut for later this year, and now Van She publicizing ‘Cat & the Eye‘, get ready for Australia to beat France in this blogowar. ‘Cat & the Eye’ was posted on Van She’s website last year, but it’s finally out in physical form now. No information on a US release, but I am sure it will either be on iTunes or easily found on the internet.

Imo, Van She produced one of the best songs of the past couple years, ‘Kelly‘ back in 2005. I still listen to it a couple times a week. If your ready for the coolest thing ever, check below.

Be sure to listen to their new single too, although I don’t think they’ll ever top Kelly.
