Is it too early to start thinkin about New Years?

posted by Lambo at 12:13 am.

Ok, I’m officially running short of Christmas cheer… and it’s only 12:09AM on Christmas morning.

What that means is that we at PGU are moving on to the next holiday (and one of my personal favorites!)… NEW YEARS EVE!

So c’mon back to Chambana or c’mon down to our studios at 512 E. Green Street on that first night of 2009! We’ll be there, rockin out (as always) and we’ll probably have some funny hats on!

For the last time this year (we promise) happy holidays from WPGU, and here’s lookin’ forward to a badass 2009!

We’re still here… honest!

Hey there PGU Lovers!

I know you’re worried that Winter Break means that PGU is just not the same as it was last week… but we’re still around, rockin to the true alternative we know you love! So be sure to tune in and listen, along with calling in and making your requests!

Also, be sure to log on to the217.com for a bit of Christmas cheer, courtesy your friends at WPGU! We’re posting our live retelling of Dickens’ A Christmas Carol from last Sunday for the world to hear! Happy holidays from PGU! We’ll see you on the air!

Study break!

Lily Allen - “The Fear” - One more Brit with a taste for satire, one more song about high fashion and frivolous, vain celebrity. But Lily Allen brings an honesty along with all of the production that makes this song believable as well enjoyable. It’s something all of us “weapons of massive consumption” can appreciate.

The Gaslight Anthem - “The Patient Ferris Wheel” - In case you’re unfamiliar with The Gaslight Anthem, they’re one of the most notable new punk rock bands around. Think The Killers meets The Lawrence Arms. This song is thoughtful and fearless, and the backing guitars drive you recklessly through the whole scene. Makes me feel like I did before I got into college and became a sissy.

Fishing with Dynamite at the Canopy Club
December 6
Doors: 7pm

It’s bound to be a hilarious show. I was actually surprised the first time I saw them. I definitely expected some awkward laughs, silence, etc… not the case. I had a couple drinks, granted, but I nearly peed my pants. Seriously (again, I’d had a couple).

I hope to see y’all there! You can buy me a drink with the money you save on tickets.
