Here it is. My list.

FYI, I take this very seriously. This is one of the only things that gives me some sort of solace during the week leading up to finals every year.

I’d like people to leave their own favorites in the comments section. Those of you preparing to flame my list, I don’t care what you think.

The following albums remind me that having to sift through disappointing music all year is worth it if you manage to find the gems.

i’ve finally reached the point where i can’t berate you for being a pretentious prick, because i will have a fair amount of these on my list.

oh, the time’s are a’ changing or something.

Justice at number three?! I never would have guessed, you are bold sir. I need more time to do mine.

I’m a Ted Leo fan, a huge Ted Leo fan. And as much as I would love to see the album higher on your list, it wasn’t nearly their best, and is probably properly placed. Nice work.

[…] The lovely, pretentious Matt Fender has posted his top 25 albums of the year on his blog, He Said He Said. […]

Kudos to Daft Punk, Justice, and M.I.A. amongst a list of more indie, mellow, “different” music. I also like Arcade, Feist, and Modest Mouse on the list of course. You should check out David Guetta and his new CD Pop Life for some funky french electro house. Oh and I agree with Brian Timabland is definitely an elite producer–platinum city.

dinosaur jr’s beyond was pretty good and their tour was nuts

Sound of Silver - LCD Soundsystem
Armchair Apocrypha - Andrew Bird

and, even though I know you hate him, he still made a pretty decent album.

Easy Tiger - Ryan Adams and the Cardinals

Those would have been on my list…

steve (steve) says:

this list should have been top 21 instead.

Matt (Matt) says:

I would also add these:

Menomena- “Friend and Foe”
The Shins - “Wincing the Night Away”
Ween - “La Cucaracha”

Josh (Josh) says:

Definitely agree about the Shins. I’d also add the New Moon Elliott Smith album, Logh’s North, and The Snake The Cross The Crown’s Cotton Teeth.

Oh, and Soulja Boy.
