Twilight-for your face

posted by Allison at 11:55 pm.

I will admit I’m a Twilight fan. I read all the books in a matter of days but by no means am I a crazy, wannabe vampire. For those of you who are maybe a little too invested in Twilight, have I found the makeup for you, Twilight Beauty. Yes, there is a line of Twilight makeup. The line carries everything from mascara, eyeshadow and lip gloss to Twilight venom (a crimson lip stain). Check it out at twilightbeauty.com.

Rain friendly footwear

posted by Allison at 10:30 pm.

Doesn’t is always seem that when it rains here it rains for days? Luckily I have my trusty rain boots to make walking to class a little less difficult. I got mine from Target. They have a great selection online from solid colors to polka dots and plaid. The best part is that most pairs cost around $25. If you feel like investing a little more piperlime.com carries brands such as London Fog, Kate Spade and Juicy Couture. Piperlime also carries Hunter brand boots and the fleece liners to go with them. Many of the brands Piperlime carries you can also find on zappos.com and both websites offer free shipping and returns. With deals that good why not get a couple pairs?

Fashion Humor

posted by Allison at 4:46 pm.

I love it when people don’t take fashion so seriously and have some fun with it! Just check out these funny and unusual designs.

First off is the Longcat Fleece Scarf. This is scarf designed by HezaChanPlush and for sale on etsy.com.

I seriously started laughing when I saw the Rudolph nose warmer. I would really love to see someone wearing one in public. If you think you can pull it off they can be purchased from Aunt Marty (Aunt Marty Made It) on etsy.com.

Last but not least, bread shoes. Yes you read that right, shoes made out of bread. These shoes aren’t actually wearable so what exactly you do with them I have no clue, but they are pretty darn hilarious. Get you own pair at dadadastudio.eu.

Cheap Havaianas!

posted by Allison at 6:07 pm.

If you don’t own a pair of Havaianas flip flops, you are missing out. Trust me these aren’t your ordinary rubber flip flops. They’re comfy and don’t fall apart like cheap ones do. I recently discovered that they’re really cheap ($14-$18) right now on revolveclothing.com. Yes winter is right around the corner, but buy them now while they’re cheap for next summer!

To young to model underwear?

posted by Allison at 9:56 pm.

Victoria’s Secret recently hired five new models to be Victoria’s Secret Angels. One of the girls is American model Chanel Iman who has experienced huge success since her debut in the modeling world in 2006. For those of you fashion followers you’ve probably seen her on several runways and magazine covers. She is even on the cover of this month’s Teen Vogue. But what I found shocking about her being hired as an Angel is that she is only 19. The current angels are at least 24! I guess she is legally an adult but I don’t think Victoria’s Secret is sending the right message by having a 19 year old model lingerine, especially when I think of all the young girls that shop at Victoria’s Secret. What do you think, is 19 to young to be modeling lingerine?

Another nail color for fall

posted by Allison at 5:07 pm.

Some of my favorite nail colors are shades of red and wine colors are great for fall. They look great on everyone and every skin tone. Here I tried Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Wined Up. I’m a big fan of Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dri polish because it literally dries in about a minute which is perfect when I’m short of time or need to make a few touch-ups.

Olsenboye

posted by Allison at 10:10 pm.

Affordable fashion is coming soon from Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. It seems like those two do more designing than acting these days. The duo already has two high priced lines, The Row and Elizabeth and James. Their new line, called Olsenboye is a juniors collection that will be sold in JCPenney stores. It will be available at select locations (including those in the Chicago area) starting November 6. The line includes denim, flannel and studded sweatshirts. From what I’ve seen so far the clothes are pretty cute! I can’t wait to see the entire collection.

Jimmy Choo for H&M

posted by Allison at 9:18 pm.

I’m a huge fan of designers doing affordable lines for stores like Target and H&M. I’m not always willing to spend my money on designer clothes so I like that I can still get clothes that look high end without paying the high end price. For those of you shoe addicts get excited because the The Jimmy Choo for H&M collection hits stores November 14th. The collection includes handbags, shoes and accessories. I have my eye on a pair of red sandals that are absolutely drool worthy, and they’re only $99!!! Compared to the normal price of Jimmy Choos, which can be around $400-$500, that’s a huge steal!

Fall nail polish

posted by Allison at 8:55 pm.

I am obsessed with nail polish so I’m always up for trying new colors. A big nail polish trend for fall is green, especially jade. I tired Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Jumpin Jade which I got from the Walgreens on Green Street. I also tested Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear in In the Navy. I especially loved the navy color. I like dark polish and I think blue is a color a lot of people might be hesitant to try out, but it’s definitely a great way to switch it up if you usually go for dark reds or purples.
