When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one person to complain about a show and expose it for what it is, I find myself compelled to speak on good taste’s behalf.
There is a show that you haven’t heard of called Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! on Adult Swim, randomly aired, for 9 to 11 minutes a few times a week. Basically, Tim and Eric, the hosts, deliver a dozen short skits involving a green screen and some walk-on cameos. The show’s first season is available on DVD and well into it’s second season. Tim and Eric also contribute to the humor video site SuperDeluxe.com.
The show is not funny. Well, sure, it’s target audience are 12-year-old boys staying up late when their parents think they’re sleeping, and it’s funny to them, but the execution of their jokes is annoying, childish, and juvenile. Of course, there is no way to describe that without viewing the show, but here’s an example.
I knew a kid growing up who had anger issues. He liked to kill ants. And not just squish the ants, no, he had to really kill the ants. He would squish it, then grind the ant into the pavement with his shoe, then sometimes stomp on it, or smack it with a rock, and then get so adrenaline worked up by this process he once even started yelling at the vaporized ant. Messed up kid.
Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!’s humor is just like this: the comedians will make a quick joke and then keep it going in some sort of sugar-high rage, like laughing for an entire minute after the joke has been made, showing various angles of the laughter. Puking and other gross things are accentuated for no reason. The show is almost meant to be funny for it’s lack of humor, but don’t pat them on the backs just yet. The show fails miserably because there’s no point, just asinine humor.
Of course, a fan would state that my response is the type of response the show is meant to illicit, but I’m smart enough to realize that is just an attempt to validate two guys just messing around.
Adult Swim, oh how the mighty has fallen!

I enjoyed their previous effort on Adult Swim (Tom Goes to the Mayor), but I just can’t get into Awesome Show. Every once in a while it makes me laugh (I like asinine humor), but for the most part it’s just a little TOO asinine.

Stroooongly disagree. A large part of the humor in Tim and Eric is the “sugar-high rage” that the jokes take on.
I also must say that any instance on the show with a special guest cameo is absolutely hilarious. See: Steve Brule.
Love the show and can’t wait for more from these guys.
Adult Swim still lives!
