Cape’s Myth-behaving

Following the traditional week-long story arch formula of comic strips, this week Cape & Cowl try to drum up some suitable in-fight jokes. This was a fun week to write.

Cape & Cowl Week 2, Day 1

Cape & Cowl Week 2, Day 2

This week featured the introduction of a new member of the Cape & Cowl family, Muffy the Vampire Killer, a totally unique character that has never ever ever been thought up before. *ahem*

Cape & Cowl Week 2, Day 3

Likewise, we get to see Quetzalcoatl, an Aztec god, attack the beloved Alma Mater. Shane described the image as “a bad tattoo.” It does have a Trogdor feel. I want to try to remind readers that the series takes place in CU while not making that the focus or beating you over the head with insular, U of I jokes.

Cape & Cowl Week 2, Day 4

I was also able to namedrop another super hero that I created back in high school, Leatherback. Even though he won’t make an appearance, I really though he deserved to reach print at least once. If you want to see more guest appearances, I’ve got a treat for you in two weeks.

Cape & Cowl Week 2, Day 5

Next week, join Cape & Cowl in Every Cape Wants To Rule The World!

Matt Knicl: My name is Matt Knicl. I'm a U of I alumn and one of those unemployed English majors Garrison Keillor likes to make fun of. I've been reading comics since high school and one day I would like to write them. My goal is to expose readers to what is out there in the world of comics and using my English powers, show what is worth reading or not. I can be reached at buzz.comics@gmail.com.
