I just came across this event. It is about comics and homosexuality/women, things I have touched on in my columns. Hope to see you there!

This talk will explore the following questions: Which queer/women experiences are seen in comics? How are they portrayed? These experiences include: (for queers) internalized homophobia, being in the closet, being outed, hate crimes (and for women) living in a male-dominated world, sexual harassment, violence against women.n. Pizza and soda will be provided. Bring your fiends and and an open mind. Audience participation is welcome! Allies are welcome at this event.”
Matt Knicl: My name is Matt Knicl. I'm a U of I alumn and one of those unemployed English majors Garrison Keillor likes to make fun of. I've been reading comics since high school and one day I would like to write them. My goal is to expose readers to what is out there in the world of comics and using my English powers, show what is worth reading or not. I can be reached at buzz.comics@gmail.com.
