I’m listening to a Vampire Weekend single release of “Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa” on Rhapsody.com, and the vocals are pathetic. How much mastering went into their disc? SNL this weekend should be interesting, especially if the song is as screechy and flat as it is in this version. Wouldn’t that be something, if the country’s biggest, most overhyped band of the moment can’t even nail their simplistic songs live.

What were you WEARING when Wilco performed “Walken” on SNL? I didn’t realize you doubled as a Mexican restaurant guitarist when you’re not on tour.
Someone very special just gave me a full ten-punch card for Espresso Royale.
Sometimes, the best things in life are free!
From August 5-10, Medeski Martin & Wood will be hosting CAMP MMW at the Full Moon Resort in the Catskills. The press release says that, ” campers will gather together for five days of intensive workshops and seminars, deep listening, musical exploration, and improvisation.”
I don’t even play an instrument, and I’m in awe of the event. Swimming in the watering hole with Chris Wood, roasting marshmallows with Medeski…but, what does a day at Camp MMW consist of? Well, since I asked for you:
“A typical day at Camp MMW begins with a buffet breakfast with the band, from 8AM to 9AM, followed by a Master Class/Seminar with MMW at 9:30AM. At Noon, camp will break for a buffet lunch, from 12:15 to 1:15PM, followed by some free time until 2:45, when everyone will breaks into workshops groups with individual band members and special guests. At 6:00, everyone gathers for a seated dinner, followed by the evening’s event, which might be a performance and jam sessions, or a film and discussion, a bonfire, a dance party, or who knows what! Campers will share most meals with John, Billy, and Chris, and participate in fun and exciting activities together throughout the week.”
This rocks any campfire you’ve ever played guitar around. Space is limited to 80 students. All instruments are welcome, and to apply, you must provide a recording of your work. Applications and information are available at www.mmw.net and the deadline is May 1, 2008.
Of course the best music event in the world is only open to 80 people. I gotta learn how to play the banjo IMMEDIATELY.
As Matt Fender pointed out on the photo post below, the captions are messed up on the site. So, apologies for the captions being on the wrong photos.
I went to Seven Saints tonight with my friend Laura who is visiting, and the food was PHENOMENAL. All four of us who went had a fantastic meal. Lightly fried cheese curds for an appetizer? A salad with gorgonzola cheese, portabello mushrooms, steak and tasty blue cheese dressing!?
Eat here. Trust me.
The music video for Justice’s DVNO is out! Check it out HERE on Stereogum.com.
Kate Bosworth has been modeling for Calvin Klein for some time now, but I’ve never seen the above ad, which was in the March issue of Nylon that I just recieved.
She looks unhealthy skinny. And, considering that around this time last year she was a ribcage with a skin coating, CK shouldn’t be modeling her tiny frame in this manner to sell clothes. She looked like a walking eating disorder, and now, albeit her stomach protrudes a tiny bit more than it did before, they’re trying to make a buck off of it.
Someone get this girl a cheeseburger!
I just walked past Firehaus and Murphy’s, and both have a “Must be 21 to enter” sign posted today.
Firehaus I understand, but Murphy’s? Even if all I want is a hamburger?
Hello, shopping at home during Spring Break.
Goodbye, all of my money.
