Yobs.

posted by Carlye at 9:34 am.

I write for Smile Politely now. I still work for buzz and The217.com also, and people might raise an eyebrow at the double CU-website work, but I’m freelancing and I just want to write for as many different places as possible.

And, just like every place I work at, it has a mugshot of me that is slightly awkward. Well, hey. Look at that. Me being awkward and unphotogenic. (But, it’s insanely better than last week’s buzz column photo. Sheesh, I look like an emo fetus in that one.)

I’m A Big Girl Now.

posted by Carlye at 2:11 pm.

The process of getting an actual website made has proven to be time consuming, so I took matters into my own hands today and created what I like to refer to as a “virtual resume.”

Check out my temporary website at carlye.tumblr.com. If all I needed a website for was to let employers know who I was, a feel for what I’m like (and how much I like brown) and a way to read my stories, this works perfectly as a temporary page.

Enjoy. And forward it to anyone you know looking for an employee. And enjoy.

Contacts.

Want to let me know about something going on in town? That the gay-hating jesus freaks were storming the Quad again? A girl’s boob fell out during a philosophy discussion?

Now, you can let me know. The blog now has an e-mail address. If you need me, you can find me at awkcity@gmail.com

Obama Would Be Proud.

posted by Carlye at 4:22 am.

After two days of visiting magazine offices and talking to people in the industry about the importance of online and web content, I’ve decided that once I officially leave my post as music editor of buzz next week, I will begin focusing solely on Awkward City as a personal full-time job.

Current goal: 15 posts a day (two of which are long or slightly in-depth), subscribe to five more magazines to understand various content better, budgeting my expenses to invest in blog-worthy products (camera, photoshop, scanner) and eat a lot, since apparently once I get here I won’t.
