Why I Love JetBlue

I caught up on the episode of The Daily Show I missed the night before.
Our flight didn’t land on time — it landed early.
They came around with drinks, coffee and a basket full of snacks.
Our plane was half empty, so I got to sit alone and watch two TVs, like my own tiny Situation Room in the sky.

But, most importantly, there was a Project Runway marathon. What’s better that watching Christian compete to show at Bryant Park while you’re flying to NYC to stay across the street from it?

Carlye Wisel: if sarah silverman, stacy london, buster bluth and ari gold had a love child, it would be me.

This was exactly my same experience with Jet Blue flying into New York. Flying out was the same, PLUS I was running really late (<30 minutes to take-off… damn MTA construction… f’in make me get off and wait 20 minutes for a different train… grumble grumble grumble), and I still managed to make it though their self check-in, though security, and onto the plane with time to spare. That is one advantage of JetBlue having their own terminal in New York: they’re the only airline feeding into the security line, so passenger traffic is very staggered and manageable.

I always thought you’d look good with a gray beard.

Here’s a funny one for you. I am a JetBlue pilot based at JFK. I was flying a full load of folks up from Florida during the recent 2008 Super Bowl. We landed in New York during the 4th quarter just as the lead changed for the third time between the New England Patriots and the NY Giants.

Can you comprehend how difficult it was for us to ask an Airbus full of fired-up New Yorkers to exit the airplane so we could get it cleaned up for the next flight?

(The passengers were OK with it when they discovered that we had large screens in the terminal…lol.)
