Pre-order Notice - Advent Children Complete

posted by nikki at 1:32 pm.

Sure, some fans have derided Advent Children as pure fan service… the cornerstone of a lucrative cash-in on what is arguably of Square Enix’s most successful and beloved game to date. Sure, those same fans are probably going to say that Advent Children Complete is just SE’s way of squeezing more money out of FF7 fanatics.

Sure, I already own four copies of the damn thing…

Available June 2, only on Blu-Ray, Advent Children Complete puts a new spin on Square Enix’s Final Fantasy VII sequel. Essentially the director’s cut of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, Advent Children Complete adds additional footage to the original film, bringing the run time from 101 to 126 minutes.

I’ve pre-ordered it. Now… does anyone know where I can get a good deal on a Blu Ray player so I can actually watch it?

Pre-order Notice: Nintendo DSi

posted by nikki at 8:28 am.

As many of you may have heard, the next iteration of the DS is coming to the U.S. in April. The Nintendo DSi features upgrades such as a larger screen and thinner overall design, dual camera (inward and outward facing), and the ability to access and play music from an standard SD card.

The DSi will also have access to DSiWare, the DSi-only version of WiiWare, available for download in exchange for DSi Points.

Buyers should note, however, that the DSi also loses some features… most notably the ability to play GameBoy Advance games. Consequently, as it drops the GBA port entirely, it also loses compatibility with certain peripheral controllers, like Guitar Hero On Tour’s Guitar Grip. Additionally, according to the official specs for the device, the DSi has a shorter battery life than the DS Lite (3-4 hours on high brightness for DSi vs. 5-8 hours for the Lite), but takes slightly less time to recharge.

The Nintendo DSi will be available April 5, and will retail for $169.99.

Pre-order Notice: The Last Remnant

posted by nikki at 1:08 pm.

Coming soon to an XBOX 360 near you (and a little later, to the PS3, as well…) is Square-Enix’s next RPG, The Last Remnant.

The story of the game concerns “remnants”, mysterious and coveted ancient artifacts of vast magical power. These artifacts come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and have been the cause of several wars. Central to the story is a boy named Rush, who is trying to rescue his kidnapped sister, Irina, only to find himself pulled directly into the global conflict as a result.

Gameplay is said to be Turn/Command-based, and like several of Square-Enix’s more recent games, random encounters have been done away with. Players will also have the opportunity to command a team of soldiers in battles that can involve up to 70 enemies at once.

The game will be available November 20 for the 360. A PS3 release date has not yet been set.

Pre-order Notice - Infinite Undiscovery

posted by nikki at 2:13 pm.

infiniteundiscoverybox.jpg

Developed by tri-Ace (creators of Star Ocean, Valkyrie Profile, and so on) and published by Square Enix (of Final Fantasy fame) comes one of those somewhat rare RPG titles that are exclusive to the XBOX 360. I have to admit, I’ve actually been looking forward to this for quite some time (it’s one of the reasons I ended up getting a 360 before a PS3), and a really do hope that it lives up to its promises… else I shall be very annoyed.

The storyline of the game focuses largely on a young man named Capel, who is mistaken for a rebel hero and imprisoned, only to be drawn into the fight against the wicked Order of Chains.

At the core of this title is the “situational” nature of the game in which every choice and battle permanently changes the in-game world in some way. Battles are in real-time (think Radiata Stories, rather than Final Fantasy XII), and you can control a party of up to 4 people (with a choice between 18 playable characters). There are also day to night transitions during play that can work both for and against the player.

Infinite Undiscovery is scheduled to ship September 1 and release on September 2. For those who like free stuff, EB Games is offering a pre-order bonus of a limited foil print and a download code for your choice of five different in-game items.

Have you pre-ordered it yet?
