October and its cooler weather is rapidly closing in on us. In addition to bringing us the joy that is Halloween (free candy!!!), October is also National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

And on that note, releasing today is a special Limited Edition Pink Ribbon DS Lite. The limited edition retails for the regular price of $129.99, and Nintendo has promised a $5 donation to Susan G. Komen for the Cure for every unit sold (and a minimum of $100,000).

According to Amazon.com:

The Limited Edition Pink Ribbon DS Lite is a one-time creation and it could soon be very hard to find. Shop now to support Susan G. Komen for the Cure and show your support for breast cancer awareness and research.

Nintendo will donate $5.00 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure for each Limited Edition Pink Ribbon DS Lite handheld gaming console sold, with a guaranteed minimum donation of $100,000.00. Nintendo supports Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s promise to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures. For more information, please call 1-877-GO-KOMEN or visit www.komen.org.

Seems like a good reason to pick up that Nintendo DS you’ve been meaning to buy…

Nikki Blight: is still trying to find that damn princess... when she's not writing fresh code for the217.com.

Saving the world one game at a time.

Make all the jokes you want, but gamers and the gaming industry have been jumping on the causes for a while now.

I myself am a proud owner of a Halo “Fight the Flood” T-shirt! :)
