Finally, a week with a release list that doesn’t put me to sleep… Anticipated RPG? Check. New Disgaea sequel? Check. Open world blow-shit-up game? Check. Have fun!

For Consoles

Tales of Vesperia | 360 | 360 Premium Edition
The newest (and first next-gen) edition to the Tales RPG series, in Tales of Vesperia, a power sturggle has begun in a civilization dependent upon the ancient Blastia technology, and two friends are thrown into an adventure the likes of which they have never imagined. The Premium edition comes in a steelcase metal box, and includes a Tales 10th anniversary music CD, and a 72 page manual with exclusive artwork. The game also makes us of XBOX Live in the form of leaderboards and downloadable content.

Mercenaries 2: World in Flames | PS3 | 360 | PS2
The sequel to 2005’s Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction, Mercenaries 2 is a third person shooter, that takes place in an open world environment. Your job: profit from chaos. Online co-op mode is available, and the sequel adds 130 new vehicles, as well as the ability to interact with water environments. I don’t know yet how good the game is, but it sure has one hilariously kick-ass commercial.

Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice | PS3
Disgaea 3, the third in the popular stratgey RPG series, follows the decision of Mao, son of the Overlord of the Netherworld, to forsake his demonic heritage, become a hero, and overthrow his father. The first of the strategy RPG series on a next-gen console, the game’s story and endings evolve as you play the game, and there are over 270 customizable characters.

Mario Super Sluggers | Wii
Featuring two-player baseball games, and four-player mini-games, Mario Super Sluggers is intended as a fun social activity for the entire family. Build your roster of Mario characters, and use the Wii-remote to hit a grand slam. The game supports three control methods, including Wii-Remote in the tradition controller position, Wii-Remote and Nunchuck, and Wii-Remote swung as a baseball bat.

Vampire Rain: Altered Species | Ps3
The PS3 port of the 2007 XBOX 360 game, Vampire Rain is a stealth-action title in which, as a member of a special government unit tasked with defeating the vampire hoards preying on U.S. citizens, you must… well, defeat the hoards of vampires preying on U.S. citizens. By using you wits, and the cover of shadows and pouring rain, you must track them down and destroy them before they turn you into dinner.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 | PS3 | 360 | Wii | PS2 | PSP
The latest Tiger Woods-branded golf title, PGA Tour 09 gives you your own coach in the form of Wood’s real-life coach, Hank Haney, as you play the courses and go for the lowest score (which, people tell me, in golf is a good thing). The game features online play for up to four players, leaderboards, and an all new Club Tuner for customizing your clubs.

Ferrari Challenge | PS3 | Wii | PS2
Also Available on: Nintendo DS
Hurtle around the track in one of several world-renown racing venues, and experience the Ferrari driving experience in the comfort of your own home (and for a lot less money than buying one of the damn things). Two-player split screen head-to-head competition is available if you’d like to bring a friend along.

WiiWare

Helix (1000 Wii Points)
An innovative music-rhythm games designed specifically for the Wii console. Use the Wii-Remote for dozens of movements (rather than button presses), including punches, circles, back fists, and hooks. The game features 26 unlockable songs and 3 difficulty levels.

For Handhelds

Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness | Nintendo DS
When your ship is destroyed in a tropical storm, you find yourself stranded on an island. Having no other option, you and your fellow castaways must grow your own food, build your own shelter, and turn your island home into a paradise. Touted as the biggest portable Harvest Moon ever, the game also allows you to compete against others online.

The Sims 2: Apartment Pets | Nintendo DS
When your sim moves into a very animal-friendly apartment building, he or she must run their own pet spa, groom and dress the pets, and keep them happy.

In this action RPG, Rubenhaut is a small country that has always been ruled by peace-loving queens. Its towns and villages overflow with energy Long ago, the Dimensional Abyss was created, to seal away all the evil in the world, and to protect that seal, the Saint of Light created the Abyss Gate. As time passed, the seal weakened, and monsters began to pour through the Gate to attack Rubenhaut. Now, the queen has called upon anyone willing to stop them.
